Season Kickoff Announced

The Gainesville Over-40 Soccer League season officially kicks off on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at the Jonesville Soccer Complex. Directions and other info is linked here. The games will be played on Wednesday evenings, with rain-out games rescheduled for the following Friday. We are planning for 8 teams in our inaugural season. We will use 2 fields simultaneously with games starting at either 6:30 or 8 pm.

The league administration is done through Sporting Gainesville Inc. a subsidiary of Sporting Jacksonville. Official player and team registration and payments are done through their playmetrics server.

Our mission

Our overall mission is to provide an opportunity for fellowship and quality soccer play for the older members of our Gainesville area community.

Our current need is to assess how many people are interested in playing in this league. We are planning for an 8-team league this fall, with 14-20 players on each team's roster. If there are enough interested players we will expand the number of teams starting with the spring season. At present we have nearly enough players to fill out the 8 teams. If you are be interested in participating, primarily for the spring and after, then please complete the form linked here and at the top of this page.

League Rules

This is an 8v8 competition on a 3/4 size field, with goalies and full-sized goals. The rules include:

1. must be 40 years of age or older at the time of play.
2. 35-minute halves, with a water break in each half.
3. no slide tackles.
4. subbing on the fly from midfield.
5. no offsides.
